How to Incorporate God into your Wedding

When Joshua and I got married in 2012, I had not been a “practicing” Catholic. As a bride-to-be in my 20s, I had lost touch with being intimate with God, but the seeds of Christ, which my parents had lovingly planted, were still present. I knew I wanted to incorporate God into our marriage. We ended up taking a marriage class through our local Katy Catholic church and exchanged our vows in my hometown church, followed by a reception at a lovely local venue in a small town.
Your wedding day represents far more than the union of two hearts; it's a sacred vow that honors God's glory and the divine love He instituted for marriage. For brides in Houston, Katy, Sugar Land, Sealy, and Richmond who are Christian, creating a faith-inspired celebration that is both a religious devotion and has vintage sophistication can be daunting. Yet with planning and the right venue, your day can eloquently merge worship, tradition, and celebration.
At Brandt 1910, we've had numerous couples make their wedding day a powerful testimony of faith. Our stunning historic wedding venue, nestled in peaceful countryside a short drive from Fulshear, is the perfect location for Houston-area Christian couples who want to honor both God and their own love story. No matter if you envision an intimate chapel wedding or a glamorous affair under Texas skies, incorporating God into every detail creates the foundation that will bind your marriage together for years to come.
In this blog we’ll go over how you can incorporate God into every aspect of your wedding day:

Choosing the Perfect Venue for a Christ-Centered Wedding
The place you select creates the spiritual ambiance of your entire celebration. In searching for Christian wedding locations in Katy TX for brides, consider how the setting will support your desire to honor God on your wedding day. Your location should be one where prayers could freely be spoken and worship would naturally come out.
Brandt 1910's rural beauty has an atmosphere that caresses both heart and soul. Built in 1910 by F.D. Brandt as a general store, our turn-of-the-century structure captures decades of family occasions and celebrations within its very walls. The brick, high ceilings, and old-world charm furnish an atmosphere perfect for couples who wish their wedding to convey God's unending love.
Our 4,000 square-foot ballroom can be modified to accommodate a range of ceremony styles from cozy chapel-style configurations complete with candles and billowy drapes to open-air extravaganzas in our closed garden. The flexibility allows your faith to take center stage, whether you're attracted to classic hymns echoing across the room or contemporary worship.

Incorporating Scripture into Your Ceremony
Bible quotations bring life and interpretation to all areas of your wedding ceremony. Think about incorporating God's word into your vows, readings, and visual presentations to make your wedding a truly spiritual one. Favorite verses, such as 1 Corinthians 13's definition of love or Ecclesiastes 4:12's assurance that "a cord of three strands is not quickly broken" remind all who attend that your marriage involves God as a partner.
Some of my other favorite scriptures to include in a wedding are:
Philippians 2:2–4
"Then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others."
1 John 4:7
"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God."
Romans 12:9–12
"Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer."
1 Peter 4:8
"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins."
Create stunning visual displays of Scripture across your ceremony space
Inspirational verses may be hand-lettered on signs to line your aisle, and lovely programs hold your chosen passages and why they're meaningful to your union. Family and friends can be invited to read during the ceremony, making God's word a community celebration of faith.
Here at Brandt 1910, brides and grooms often place their chosen verses on vintage easels or as part of their place setting that complements our vintage atmosphere. The sunlight streaming in our windows beams upon these sacred words beautifully, creating photo shoots capturing both your faith and your love.

Worship Through Music on Your Wedding Day
Music transforms hearts and creates a space where God's presence is felt deeply. Choose classic hymns such as "Great is Thy Faithfulness," contemporary worship songs today such as "How He Loves" by David Crowder, or classical songs that are of spiritual significance, music welcomes you and your guests into worship.
Consider hiring a live worship band or string quartet to lead your guests in song during the ceremony. Brandt 1910's excellent acoustics make every note sound crisp and clear, whether you're hosting a small acoustic performance or full-on musical celebration. Our floor plan provides perfect positioning for musicians, so they can lead worship without dominating your ceremony.
Many couples choose to insert a special worship time into their reception as well. This might be an acoustic performance of "your song" or inviting guests to sing along with a meaningful hymn as you slice your wedding cake. These moments remind everyone that your celebration doesn't culminate at the party but extends into true worship and thanksgiving.
Including Prayer and Blessings
Prayer makes your wedding go from being a legal ceremony to a spiritual experience. Begin with a pre-ceremony prayer circle, gathering your wedding party in Brandt 1910's peaceful Bridal and Groom Rooms to pray for the blessing of God on the day ahead. This intimate moment will help refocus everyone's hearts on what really matters.
As part of the ceremony itself, have your officiant pray specific prayers on your marriage, your families, and your joining together. Request parents or grandparents to bless you, bridging generation gaps, honoring both God and family. These are personal touches that remind everyone present that marriage is a community celebration supported by prayer.
Our venue has a few secluded spaces perfect for private prayer sessions prior to descending the aisle. Brides use our getting-ready space to pray with their mothers or bridesmaids, while grooms convene with groomsmen in our outdoor spaces for their own time of reflection and prayer.
God in the Wedding Reception
Your wedding reception gives you numerous options for continuing to honor God in your celebration. Start your meal with a blessing, thanking God for bringing you together and asking Him to bless your union and your guests. A simple act, this acknowledges God's provision and invites His presence into your celebration.
Consider adding religious elements to your reception decor and favors. Small devotionals for the newlyweds, bookmarks for the Bible featuring verses of love and marriage, or small potted flowers with tags reading "Love planted, love growing" make meaningful keepsakes that reinforce the spiritual meaning of your celebration.
At speeches and toast speeches, ask speakers to speak about how they've seen God's work in your relationship. Such accounts become strong reminders of God's dependability and become cherished memories for you and your guests.
Brandt 1910: Where Faith Meets Elegance
As one of the state's best rural wedding venues for Christian weddings, Brandt 1910 provides the perfect environment for couples to search for religious significance as much as vintage character. Our venue welcomes faith-based events big or small, from intimate groups of 50 to lively parties of 200 or more guests.
Just minutes from Houston, Katy, Sugar Land, Sealy, and Richmond, we're the perfect place for couples who want to combine a church ceremony in their home church with a reception that feels like a spiritual retreat. Couples can take their vows during the ceremony in their home church, then transport their celebration to our rural setting for a reception that picks up the spiritual thread of the day or do everything all at Brandt 1910.
Our peaceful setting is ideal for capturing God's work. Mature trees form natural cathedral ceilings in our garden. Historic architecture and nature combine to create a wedding venue near Sugar Land TX, with a chapel atmosphere that many brides and grooms dream of.
When I give tours here at Brandt 1910, what Christian couples express the most to me is concern about finding a venue that will truly understand how much they desire to please God. Our team gets that your wedding day is not simply a party—it's a worship service, a testimony, and a celebration of God's design for marriage all wrapped up.
